USA Today (http://tinyurl.com/anger-disorder 11/19, Jayson) reports, “Anger is considered a factor in mental illnesses, such as depression, but it is not an official disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association.” Nevertheless, “anger expert” Raymond DiGiuseppe, PhD, of “St. John’s University in Queens, NY, is among those who say a new ‘anger disorder’ diagnosis is warranted for people experiencing excessive or uncontrolled anger.” Still, “anger is not all negative, psychologists caution.” Pointing out that “anger signals a need that is not being filled,” clinical psychologist Robert Allan, PhD, of Weill Cornell Medical College/New York Presbyterian Hospital, stated, “The question is how you express it.”
